The You Ji VTL-2000ATC Vertical Turning Center is a large, high precision, heavy duty machine. The rigid vertical column and base are meehanite castings, heavily ribbed for reduced thermal distortion and vibration dampening. It is built for heavy duty turning of large size workpieces.
The X and Z axes are a box way design with Turcite B for rigidity. The ways are completely enclosed and a forced lubrication system assures high precision. This rigid system enables heavy duty machining and high precision. The Z axis is a large square ram (9” x 9” / 9.8” for ATC-I and II models) made from cast steel that is extremely rigid even when extended the full 37.4” (47.2” for ATC-I and 55.1” for ATC-II). The precision class 3 ballscrews are driven directly by the servo motors, eliminating belts or gears for high precision. The cross rail is moveable on box ways and is hydraulically clamped for rigidity and precision. The cross rail is moveable in 200 mm increments and automatically latches against fixed stops. The cross rail is positioned by dual lead screws on each side of the massive column.
The spindle construction is a heavy duty design incorporating a high precision 36” diameter O.D. / 27” diameter I.D. Timken Cross Roller bearing and NN type roller bearings to endure high axial and radial loads. The spindle also is protected from coolant contamination. Tremendous table torque is developed by the 100 HP Fanuc high torque spindle motor coupled with the 2 speed ZF gear box. The 2 speed ZF gearbox transmits power through another intermediate gearbox and the table is then driven by a class 1 ring and pinion gear which provides a further gear reduction and torque multiplication. Spindle / table torque is an amazing 41,133 ft./lbs., providing the power for heavy duty machining. The massive spindle can support a table load of 22,000 lbs.
The ATC stores 12 tools with a #50 taper tool attachment. This umbrella style ATC provides shortest route tool selection and is completely shielded from chips and coolant. Chip control is excellent as chips and coolant wash directly into the standard chip conveyor. Table guarding is standard and a full machine enclosure is available as an option.
