Description

The Tongtai HS-22 is a uniquely designed high speed, high precision slant bed CNC turning center cast from Meehanite iron. Precision box- ways and large servo motors provide ultra rigid and compact structure resulting in super accurate positioning. To ensure precision and thermal stability the headstock, tailstock, turret, and saddle are all mounted on a one piece 30 degree slant bed. The coolant tank is separate from the machine base to prevent heat transfer from the coolant to the machine casting which ensures precision and promotes easy clean out and maintenance. To further ensure accuracy and precision, the ballscrews are double nut type and pretensioned to eliminate thermal growth.

The precision spindle structure is mounted using precision double row roller bearings in conjunction with angular contact ball bearings for high rigidity and accuracy. The spindle quill inner and outer linings are precision ground for fit with the spindle, thus ensuring extreme concentricity and accuracy. The 6000 or optional 4500 RPM spindle is driven by a 15HP high torque motor which provides plenty of power.

A 12 station bi-directional turret provides .45 second indexing to the adjacent tool as well as a 1.8 seconds to the 180 degree opposite tool station and provides coolant through the tool holders. C axis and live tools are available as an option with the servo turret sporting VDI-40 quick change tooling, .3 second index time, and a 7.5 HP, 6000 RPM milling motor. A rear exit chip conveyor and a 6” diameter 3 jaw hydraulic chuck are provided as standard.

The HS-22 features a unique auto loading / unloading system. The automated system operates from the end of the machine as opposed to gantry system that load from the top. All loader functions are handled through the Fanuc CNC control for ultimate reliability. With a part swap time of only 4.8 seconds inside the machine, this loader is one of the world’s fastest. A 14 pallet work stocker is part of the system to enable long periods of unattended operation.

The Fanuc OiT-F Plus control with color LCD and full MDI keypad is standard for reliability and ease of use. The Fanuc absolute pulse coder (ABS) system is used to eliminate limit switches and prevent crashes. Traditional jogging to X and Z home positions are eliminated. A full C axis and servo live tool turret are optionally available for milling operations.
