Description

The You Ji VLS-2000ATC Vertical Turning Center is a large, high precision, heavy duty machine, competitively priced for large part machining. The rigid double columns, cross rail, and machine base are meehanite castings, heavily ribbed for reduced thermal distortion and vibration dampening. It is built for heavy duty turning of large size workpieces. Weighing in at 107,800 lbs., this machine handle the most demanding applications.

The X and Z axes are a box way design with Turcite B for rigidity. The ways are completely enclosed and a forced lubrication system assures high precision. This rigid system enables heavy duty machining and high precision. The Z axis is a large square ram (9” x 9”) made from cast steel that is extremely rigid even when extended the full 37.4”. The precision class 3 ballscrews are driven directly by the servo motors, eliminating belts or gears for high precision. The cross rail is moveable on box ways and is hydraulically clamped for rigidity and precision. The cross rail is moveable in 200 mm increments and automatically latches against fixed stops. The cross rail is positioned by dual lead screws on each side of the massive columns.

The spindle construction is a heavy duty design incorporating a high precision 44.5” diameter O.D. / 35.5” diameter I.D. Timken Cross Roller bearing to endure high axial and radial loads. The spindle also is protected from coolant contamination. Tremendous table torque is developed on the standard 2 axis machine by a single 100HP Fanuc high torque spindle motor and 2 speed planetary gearbox. When equipped with C axis and live tools, twin 60 HP
(120HP total) Fanuc high torque spindle motors coupled with twin 2 speed planetary gear boxes drive the table. The 2 speed gearboxes transmit power to the table via a class 1 ring gear with dual pinion gears which provides a further gear reduction and torque multiplication. Spindle / table torque is an amazing 48,100 ft./lbs. (with C axis), providing the power for heavy duty machining. The massive spindle can support a table load of 33,000 lbs.

The optional C axis and live tooling provides machining center functions. The Cs axis utilizes the twin spindle motors and twin pinion drives in tandem to produce outstanding C axis positioning and repeatability without the use of a separate C axis servo motor and gearbox. Positioning is guaranteed less than 10 arc seconds while repeatability is guaranteed less than 5 arc seconds.

The standard ATC stores 12 tools with a #50 taper tool attachment. This umbrella style ATC provides shortest route tool selection and is completely shielded from chips and coolant. Many tool change options are available for more tools. Chip control is excellent as chips and coolant wash directly into the standard chip conveyor. Square type ergonomic guarding is standard and a full (total) machine enclosure is available as an option.
