The SA51XII is our high-level 51mm machine without a rotary synchronous guide bushing. It features up to 8 total axes (Z1, X1, Y1, Z2, X2, Y2, C1, and C2) and up to 22 total tools. Machining capacity is 51mm on the main spindle, 51mm on the sub spindle, and 150mm (5.9”) maximum turning length in one chucking.
The machine is built for rigidity, accuracy, reliability, and ease of use. The highly rigid one piece cast iron machine bed is designed using FEM software. Powerful motors for both turning and milling deliver outstanding machining capability. The use of ultra-precision pre-tensioned ballscrews and LM guides produce high accuracy. High speed positioning of 944”/min reduces cycle times. A sliding operator’s door, as opposed to a lift up style door, provides easy access to the machining area and is drip free.
Spindles are the heart of the machine. The main spindle is a 17.5HP, 6000 RPM built-in motor spindle. The built-in motor provide outstanding acceleration / deceleration. The full Cs axis on both main and sub spindles with .001 degree position and hydraulic disc brake clamping provide high rigidity for milling operations. The synchronous sub spindle allows simultaneous front and back working to be performed. The sub spindle also features a 20HP built-in motor spindle with full C axis and hydraulic disc brake for rigid milling operations
Powerful live tools sporting 3HP and 6,000 RPM on the cross mill unit and 1.3HP and 5,000 RPM on the backend face tools, provide excellent drilling and milling ability. A wide range of milling, drilling, and tapping can be performed. ER-16 collets for the live tools provide excellent rigidity. Rigid tapping is standard.
The SA51XII features a non-guide bearing structure. No guide bushing allows for short parts, reduced remnant length (only 70mm), and the ability to run cold drawn material and / or other non-ground bar stock.
