The LNT 51S-S4 features four, 2-axis cross slides, a 2 axis 8 position live turret, and C axis on both main and sub spindle. With four cross slides, the turret and C axis on both spindles, this a 12-axis machine. Standard features include a turret-mounted subspindle with 3000 RPM. Driven tool capability is also standard on all 8 turret positions and utilizes VDI-30 tool holders. A gang tool back machining platform is standard, with an optional 8 position non-live or live turret. The turret maximum X-axis travel is 160mm (6.3”) and the Z-axis is 500mm (19.7”). The turret Z-axis is linear roller bearings that are set extra wide for excellent finish and size control. The X-axis runs on massive stem and guide rods. A sliding front door gives excellent tool access.
The machine is built for rigidity, accuracy, reliability, and ease of use. The LNTS series is designed for maximum versatility, as well as high production. Powerful motors for both turning and milling deliver outstanding machining capability. The cross slide design is dovetail & gib, for rigidity and accuracy. All cross slides can perform simultaneously with each other and the turret slide. The cross slide X-axis travel is 70mm (2.76”), and the Z-axis cross slide travel is 115mm (4.53”).
Spindles are the heart of the machine. LICO uses high precision class P4 spindle bearings. The standard machining bar capacity is 51mm on the main spindle and 42mm on the subspindle. A 4” 3 jaw chuck or 65mm collet chuck are available on the sub spindle, which allows for the pick off of parts greater than 42mm. The main spindle uses a 27HP, 4,500 RPM servo motor and is driven by a timing belt. The full C-axis on both main and sub spindles has a resolution of .001 degree positioning. The subspindle can synchronize with the main at any RPM up to 3000 RPM and allows front and back working to be performed simultaneously. Features can be matched from main spindle to counter spindle.
Powerful live tools provide excellent milling ability. With 5.0HP and 3,000 RPM, a wide range of milling, drilling, and tapping can be performed. Rigid tapping for the live tools is standard.
